Not my idea of a vacation. An example that stupid can kill.

An American tourist was killed by arrows shot by protected tribesmen living in one of the world's most isolated

regions tucked in India's Andaman islands, police said Wednesday.John Chau, 27, had taken a boat ride with local fishermen before venturing alone in a canoe to the remote North Sentinel Island where the indigenous people live cut off completely from the outside world.


As soon as he set foot on the island, Chau found himself facing a flurry of arrows, official sources told AFP.

Lots of problems here. Apparently these people have a border they want to enforce. Also I think "Common Sense" Arrow/blow dart legislation is required.

John Chau? Other reports indicate he was a Christian missionary, & had been working on getting to the island for a long time. Even though the India government tried to block access to the island & the tribe, Chau managed to pay someone (a local fisherman?) to transport him & his kayak near to shore, & he went in alone.

His motives may have been admirable, but the tribe made no bones about wanting to be left alone. They typically fire arrows @ people, helicopters, etc. The islanders don't speak English nor any modern language, & Chau didn't speak their language. It wasn't going to end well.
