Pope says he’s worried about homosexuality in the priesthood

This is likely to damped support for the Pope from certain quarters.

Pope Francis has been quoted in a soon-to-be published book as saying that having gays in the clergy “is something that worries me” and remarking that some societies are considering homosexuality a “fashionable” lifestyle.

Italian daily Corriere della Sera’s website Saturday ran excerpts of the book in the form of an interview that Francis gave about religious vocations. Francis was quoted as describing homosexuality within the walls of seminaries, convents and other religious places where clergy live as “a very serious question.”

“In our societies, it even seems homosexuality is fashionable. And this mentality, in some way, also influences the life of the church,” Francis was quoted as telling his interviewer, a Spanish-born missionary priest, Fernando Prado.

While Pope Francis seems like an good guy, he is naive if he thinks the priesthood isn't already gay, and not in the happy sense.

I'd be more worried about the pedophiles first and no, I don't think the two are necessarily the same group.

Hes a dime short and a day late, many cardinals and others say hes known about it and has covered it up for years. I dont believe this pope can gain any credibility at this point.

Like Nathan I certainly would worry more about pedophiles than gays.

Priest are supposed to be asexual. If they have homosexual tendencies and keep them locked up and never act on them I see no reason they can't be priest. If they promote a homosexual lifestyle then yes they should be defrocked immediately because that is an abomination unto the Lord

I listen to the Church Militant and they claim this pope knew about it before he was a pope and scuffled pedophile priest around then. They also know that 90% were open homosexuals that were convicted and known child rapist.
