Either Rule 10 is a rule or it isn't a rule. If that rule can just be ignored, I don't see any reason why all the others shouldn't be optional, as well.

Here is an easy fix. ENFORCE the rule and if a thread ban is required, have the mods cite the specific rule violation in their ban post.
It was determined by a mod that it was off topic trolling

Has anybody read this rule other than me? Is this a rule or isn't it?
I've used tpf several times and it works great.

It is a feature used by weak minded people who don't have the skill to control the direction of a discussion without the threat of a thread ban. The idea behind it isn't terrible and some people do use it as intended, but the leverl of abuse makes it more of a detriment to the forum than an asset.

A poster should not be afraid of his discussion being derailed. If he can't keep it on track, it probably wasn't all that interesting to start with. If someone is trolling the thread, it is up to the mods to step in and put a stop to it and they don't need the tPF feature to do that.

There really is no good reason for it to exist.

Why dont you write an entire essay on how the forum should be run to your liking and submit it and we'll review it. Lol

Youve been raging about moderation long before I was a moderator and the way the forum is run, how has that worked out for you so far

It's a great feature to keep trolls off your thread, that's it's purpose. Now if only the entire site was like that.

Some people don't mind trolls in their threads. Others do. tPF can be used by those who want a specific topic to be responded to in a serious manner.

Fortunately, not all the mods are like you. The others are not whiny, vindictive, petty little wannabes.

You are right in saying I do not like the tPF feature. It is abused far too often and it really does not do anything regarding moderation that the mods (the smart ones, not you) couldn't do on their own if they saw a problem with rules violations in the thread. All it does is allow whoever starts the thread to essentially dictate who participates and who doesn't be running to the mods and demanding someone be removed, even if the reason for doing so is pure bull$#@!.
