United States admits to genocide in Supreme Court case

    https://www.indianz.com/News/2018/12...mits-to-ge.asp

Of all the legal briefs filed in the current U.S. Supreme Court case of Carpenter v. Murphy, the most startling is the United States amicus brief in support of Oklahoma. The brief argues that Native reservation lands no longer exist in the territory that became the state of Oklahoma. As the basis of this argument, the brief presents a history of intentional genocide actions against Native Nations by the federal government. In short, the U.S. amicus brief not only admits historical attempts at genocide but argues that the results of genocide are legal today and should be extended!...

Here is the question the court will decide:

Issue: Whether the 1866 territorial boundaries of the Creek Nation within the former Indian Territory of eastern Oklahoma constitute an “Indian reservation” today under 18 U.S.C. § 1151(a).
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.

I'll be quite surprised if the decision grants that it does.

I read more than half of that brief. I do not see what you see. Would you please quote the portion you found?

It's an opinion piece. I didn't write it. Just posted it. The whole opinion article by Peter d'Errico, including links and why he uses the word genocide is available here: https://www.indianz.com/News/2018/12...mits-to-ge.asp

I read the article. I also read a bit more than half of the brief. He uses genocide to shock. I suppose it worked.
