Should all law enforcement carry Narcan

There seems to be a controversy over Narcan the overdose antidote drug, some Police are carrying it and many are not and will not.

Many Deputies in fla are carrying it and this am in the local paper a deputy saved someones life with Narcan in the early am hours.

Some depts are taking the stance that Police Officers are not trained medical personell and if someone where to be adversely affected by the drug theres liability. Thats true lawyers love to sue local govts.

I personally have no firm stance on this, I was wondering what other forum members thought.

I don't know why it's the officer's job to save someone from themself in the capacity of ODing on an illegal substance.

Officers may be the first to arrive on the scene of accidents, overdoses, and other medical emergencies. They are expected to perform things like CPR and first aid until an ambulance arrives. Administering Narcan is reasonable.

Probably the same reason the officer might try to save someone from jumping off a bridge or building; I don't know of any police officer who'd simply not try to do nothing and let the person die.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Is the cost of providing Narcan 'reasonable'? Or a completely wasted expense that only benefit the dregs of society?

Ok, given the officer's altruistic value system that's a reasonable viewpoint.

Narcan only became popularily known and handed out after middle and upper class kids and adults started dying from opiods.
