A gunman has opened fire near a Christmas market in the French city of Strasbourg, killing at least two people and injuring 11 others, officials and witnesses say. The suspect is not in custody.
The incident began at about 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday when someone opened fire in the city center. Shots were fired in rapid succession and screams were heard in video shared on social media.
large number of emergency services have been called to the scene while officers work to secure the scene. The local government urges people to stay at home until further notice.The suspect, whose identity was not immediately known, is believed to be armed with a rifle and was not in custody as of 9:50 p.m.
