It's far fetched because it's an incredibly lame attempt to draw attention away from discontent and to insinuate (you'd really have to a fool to believe this) that the discontent is at least in part manufactured by Russian propaganda. So where are we now? Russian Facebook ads got Trump elected and now a new wave of Russian ads has caused protests all over la France! Oh, those dastardly Ruskies!

Except that we know that this is what they do as does the US. It's not really a question of whether they did, but whether it made a difference. No Trump supporter would like to think that they were manipulated by a foreign nation so it's not surprising that they would reject the possibility out of hand.
