    The government goes geriatric

We are witnessing the last Gasp of the BabyBoomer generation in politics. I saw the greatest generation pass the gavel and now soon in the next election cycle the baby boomers will pass the gavel.

I guess the last generation said we would screw the country up and im sure theres baby boomers that will say the next gen will screw the country up. I think we all did a good job of screwing the country up and the younger gen wont change that direction.

President Trump is 72. He will be 74 when his first term ends and, if reelected, 78 by the time he leaves office.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), almost certain to be the next Speaker, is 78. She will be 80 at the end of the coming Congress. She says she has no plans to term limit herself.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the incoming House Majority Leader, is 79. He will be 81 when the 116th Congress wraps up.

The House Majority Whip, the number three person in the House leadership, will be Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who is 78. He will be 80 when this incoming Congress closes its books.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Senate Majority Leader as far back as one can remember and as far forward as one can see, is 76.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is 68.

When this next Congress is over and done, most of its leadership will be 80 or older. To be charitable, this gives new meaning to the term “senior leadership.”

You'll have to add about a decade to reach the end of the boomer generation, I think, but I can't wait. I'll make popcorn.

But are those younger Boomers in Congress now? (I don't know.) Leadership positions go by seniority in Congress, not by age.

To bad the generation between the Boomer and the Millenials wont get a chance to run things. That is where all the water has been carried for our society for a long

I'd think so. But even the younger ones are in their late 50's.
