The Brexit vote was reactionary - it was about migration, not about the fiscal realities of membership in the EU. The people who voted comprise many people who read nothing but infotainment and scandal rags. The referendum was rushed and the questions posed in the referendum were vague and failed to spell out the fiscal consequences of leaving the EU and the unemployment that will likely ensue.

Why would unemployment increase? They won't have migrants taking non-skilled labor. Many EU citizens will leave, freeing up skilled labor and white collar positions.

And we should not downplay the validity of the migration issue. Britain can manage its economy just fine. But it can't handle its migration inside the EU. That is the problem.

It was a vote of the people. Why does that seem to bother you? The people are the owners of the country nor the elitists. The people wanted out.

If we put welfare here up to a vote, it would end.

They wanted out for what they thought were the right reasons and because they ignored the benefits of remaining.
One example is the profligate way that Members of the European Parliament used their benefits, such as living in the best of properties and furnishing them at taxpayers expense. They probably were even able to save their total salaries because they weren't controlled.
Magnify that another 100 times with indiscressions and you never get the facts. You should appreciate that because Trump is in the same position.

The number one reason was mass migration. That was also number 2-10. Then the other issues stacked up 11 on.

You do realise that immigrants whether inside or outside of the EU still require a passport to enter the UK, right?

Don't they get some sort of travel papers once they are processed in any EU nation? On top of that, the EU was mandating that members accept certain numbers of migrants to spread them out.

Any EU citizen can look for work in any EU country. I believe on that basis they could not be refused entry and once there no checks are made on whether they achieve employment.
On the other hand Brits can do the same and probably did, but not so much for the work but more for the climate. The disaster of it all is the benefits they can claim while seeking employment.

I think a lot of Brits are working in the EU- their status was suppose to be part of the Brexit negotiations.
