They did the pilot program and now have to compete contracts for various parts of the wall. The procurement process is slow.

Actually They did not agree upon a budget. They just agreed upon passing a continuing resolution. I don't know when the last actual budget was passed.

So after reading your comments a government shut down isn't such a big deal to you, right?

If governemt is supposedly shut down and the congress is unable to do their job, how will the end of the government shut ever be negotiated?

It takes that long for welfare programs to stop. They will hurt then.

Yes, it will be on the heads of the Democrats. It's always Congress that takes the hit. Trump set them up today by calling Pelosi and Shumer out.

I do feel bad about the military. They have to work no matter. There is some relief for soldiers living on base but they are going to take a hit.
Entitlement program payments won't stop. A so called government shut down actually effects very little. Just enough to give politicians an issue.

It would have a larger effect if we gave "pink slips" to the non-essential workers. Imagine the joys of firing all of the Obama holdovers. One of our members would have to peddle his anti-Americanism on his own time.

That will never happen as government is the largest employer in the United States.

The Democrats are against good border security. But they need to fund the wall to keep the government from shutting down.
