    Thinking of getting my 15yr old a gun for Xmas

    He knows how to handle one, I take him shooting often,. I have a compact 9mm now, Ruger and was thinking of getting the full size Ruger 9mm just for shooting.

    Have him "try a few on" before you buy one. My favorite is the Glock 17 9mm. I also like my Glock 26. At one time I loved the M1911A1.

    Ruger "P" series guns from a couple decades ago have become sort of a cult classic. Relatively inexpensive and very well liked now, they were not popular in their day because they are big and heavy, or so I read. Of course, if money is no object, Sigs seem beloved by those who own them. I would like to have a Ruger P89 for collectibleness as an eventual classic.
