I am Jewish, thus I have significant disagreement with Christians on theological issues.

But Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe in Charity. In that respect I agree with the Pope 100%.

About 85% of Americans believe The Old Testament -- as Christians, Jews and Muslims. Much of Koran is from Old Testament.

Communism had tremendous flaws, but Societies based on massive charity are as perfect as possible.

Communism isn't based on charity massive or otherwise.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I don't get that either because even the anti-communist John Paul II (and a dozen Popes before him) critiqued the injustices of capitalist society. It's part and parcel of Catholic social teaching. With Francis I think it's his Latin American experience that scares people. Liberation theology and all that...
    Absolutely.
With Francis, I think it is his constant refutation of capitalism that scares people into thinking he is a Marxist. He doesn’t understand that there is a difference between the crony capitalism of Argentina / South America and the capitalism of the United States. We Americans believe that we are a generous people and to hear a South American with no know knowledge of our generosity or our safety net systems rail against our foundation is disturbing. So much so that the east coast wealthy told the Cardinals that they’d cut their capitalistic giving if hr didn’t back off.

To some he appears to be anti american somewhat, for whatever reason he seems to be the most disliked pope in my lifetime

Kind of funny. The richest , most materialistic major religion has a leader that reminds them of their collective excesses

The religion that clothes, feeds, cares for and educates more people than any other entity in the world is the “most major materialistic” religion. Ok.

Is the Pope ready to divest all the assets of the Vatican, and dress in rags and self flagellate in front of his flock? I doubt it!

Saw a film last night on TV about how Pope Pious XII, was surrounded by Nazis and ordered by Hitler to sack and burn the Vatican down.He remained quiet about the nazi terror, because of fear that Catholics would be victims of Hitler, and was quite torn about it. No mention of the RATLINE where he aided the Nazis to escape from Germany after the war to go hide in S. America. Hmmmm!

LOL Yeah, he just doesn't get it. It's almost like he's addicted to certain ideas.

    Stop it.

The Vatican helped many Jews escape persecution and death. During the Holocaust, the Roman Catholic Church played a role in the rescue of hundreds of thousands of Jews from being murdered by the Nazis.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_of_Jews_by_Catholics_during_the_Holocaust

The Israeli diplomat and historian Pinchas Lapide estimated the figure at between 700,000 and 860,000, although the figure is contested. The Catholic Church itself faced persecution in Hitler's Germany, and institutional German Catholic resistance to Nazism centered largely on defending the Church's own rights and institutions.

Yes, the Church should have done more, as many others should’ve The Church had survival concerns
