How British army sniper killed 6 terrorists with 1 bullet

You hit the suicide vest. LOL.

The unidentified marksman, a Lance Corporal in the Coldstream Guards, hit the target from 930 yards (850 metres) away while in Kakaran in southern Afghanistan.
    That is pretty good.

All six terrorists were killed after a single bullet hit the trigger of a suicide bomber’s vest, which exploded killing everyone around him, The Daily Telegraph reported.

It is understood the marksman, who was 20 at the time, was using an L115A3 gun, which is one of the most powerful sniper weapons.

Lt Col Richard Slack, commanding officer of the 9/12 Royal Lancers, explained how the shot happened in December 2013 when hundreds of British and Afghan soldiers were in a gun battle with 15 to 20 insurgents.

He said in March 2014: “The guy was wearing a vest. He was identified by the sniper moving down a tree line and coming up over a ditch.

The Coldstream Guards Regiment is older than our country. Lol Classic outfit.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

In the UK, from what I understand, you join a regiment (as opposed to joining the army). Of course if you want to move on to specialized units you can do that later.

That's certainly how it was in the past all over Europe beginning in the 17th Century when armies became increasingly professional. The regiment was home. It was a veritable society in itself.

It is very rare in the US army.

Now for sure. Might be that way in Europe too for all I know but during our Civil War, for example, men identified with their regiment. As a veteran, you would have much more insight than I into how things are now. Was there an attachment to the regiment? Or was it really just a number and designation?

In the Civil War people joined specific regiments. It really isn't that way now. When I enlisted in 1987 as airborne infantry, a common 4 year enlistment had you go from the 101st, to 2ID in Korea, then to the 82nd. Or that pattern in reverse. I did run into a few people that spent their entire careers in the 82nd, but that was very rare.

I see. That would strongly discourage those attachments.

I wonder if that is the intent of moving people around so much.

The costs of active duty troops changing duty stations every 1-3 years is massive.

I was going to ask if that's the intention.
