Why is a defensive player penalized for grabbing a facemask, but a running back can grab a defensive player’s facemask without being penalized?

Running backs grabbing masks is a penalty, they can't.

They can stiff-arm with a flat palm but they can't grasp.

I don't, hardly at all but if/when it happens and it's not called then it's a bad call. I do see occasionally a good stiff-arm and when it's done right it's a thing of beauty.

It's a penalty, it does get called.

It's very dangerous to grab a facemask. It could break the guy's neck. Prolly a lot of fun for them, however.

Anybody watching the Rams vs. Saints game? Should be over after a blatant pass interference call against the Rams was missed. I guess it's OK as they have not called contact in the passing game all day and even missed a couple face mask penalties. AND I'm pulling for the Rams.
Now if the Rams win maybe this crap will be exposed and the NFL forced to clean it up. ?

Hello NFL. Let's see how you deal with this one. How come the broadcasters weren't yelling " good no call". LOL Tough for the Saints but this might save the integrity of the game long term. Maybe?

That was one of the most horrid non-calls I've ever seen.

It wasn't only totally clearly pass interference, it was a fineable personal foul for helmet to helmet contact.

Those refs should never officiate another game again, it was awful. Most likely cost the Saints a superbowl appearance.

They should be fired immediately.

If I were the coach for the Saints I'd want to chainsaw the place. I wanted the Rams to win but not like that.

The thing is CO contact in the passing game has been being called less and less over the past decade or so. It might take something like this to expose the hundreds of slightly less flagrant "no calls" that go on each year now. The WWE match the NFL has made out of the deep sideline ball is particularly offensive. These are calls that can swing a game as you just saw. There is also no consistency.

Watching the Pats game, the roughing the QB non call, awful.

The non-catch after that, awful.

Yeah, the officiating in these playoff games is beyond pathetic.

Goodell sucks, he ruined the game.
