You're awesomely interesting. Have you ever seen House 2?

While I don't fly, no one ever tipped me doing my job. If they paid their employees properly, they wouldn't have to ask for tips.

    Nope.
I can see it now. Stripper poles throughout the plane, dancing for tips. Stewardesses can literally work their asses off. Too bad I don't fly....................lol

Flight attendants for large airlines are well compensated. Those that work for smaller airlines less so.

Last year I flew approximately 40 times maybe more. I always pass on any of the drinks or food/snacks they offer. My health is paramount so I bring my own on board.

Smiling and saying hello and goodbye does not warrant a tip. It deserves a returned salutation as I'm passing by. I would offer them the same advice I've been given lately. Go get another job.
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

I am against the idea of tipping them for the safety reasons I noted above. But if tipping was expected what you describe does not require a tip.

If we are divided on this practice then we are setting a precedence and everyone no matter the level of service provided will be expected to tip.

The practice of tipping should be discarded. Employers should be required to pay their staff living wages.

Everyone should read up on the history of tipping. It's enlightening and another example of employers being too greedy and cheap to take care of their employees.

Tipping should be the exception to the rule......NOT the rule. You go into convenience stores and there's a tip cup. It's gotten completely out of hand. There is a campaign by greedy employers to convince the public that it's our responsibility to subsidize THEIR employee's pay.

They are shifting their responsibility onto us. Wasn't the tax cuts to them enough. How stupid is the public that we would agree to this also?

I understand your position. It is the European model. And their concept of service is very different from ours.

I still like tipping in the "base" service industries. A waitress or bartender has an incentive to go above and beyond for tips. I like that.
