The wall is needed to slow down the transformation into a blue country. That's it. If people were flooding in who'd vote red, the dems would want to close the border.

I'd love to see our border completely secured, but it's not going to happen.

If there’s one place in the world that really needs secure borders, it’s Israel.

Below is a link to a recent NY Times article called “What Real Border Security Looks Like - Israel-style “smart fence”.”

It’s about how the county handles their security on the ground.

They use high tech cameras, security monitors, sensors, fences, and people, etc. There are some very interesting photos of their security fences, not walls, within the article.

It’s not all fences, as they do use some physical barriers.

I found it interesting that only females are assigned to the security monitors. Why an all-female unit? Because the Israeli military has determined that women have longer attention spans than men!

Come on! I have a great attention span when football is on TV.

    Anyway, here’s the link.

(I would have done a “cut and paste” of the article, but I don’t really think that’s acceptable on the forum.)

What's the difference a fence and a physical barrier?

Also Israel no longer puts women in combat units. Border control units yes.

I don't know where you got four feet. There are commercially available seismic intrusion sensors with a detection range of 20 feet. You can buy those off the shelf.

It occurs at the 1:45 mark. I posted a video instead of the transcript just so there is no doubt to whether or not he said it.

“Conscientiously believing that the proper condition of the negro is slavery, or a complete subjection to the white man, and entertaining the belief that the day is not distant when the old Union will be restored with slavery nationally declared to be the proper condition of all of African descent, and in view of the future harmony and progress of all the States of America, I have been induced to issue this address, so that there may be no misunderstanding in the future”
