People get into politics for a variety of reasons.

I've never claimed there is proof that Trump colluded with Russia.

You can claim Pelosi used her office to make her millions. You could also claim she used her office to create a harem of child sex slaves used for satanic rituals in a subterranean Bond villain type lair.

I doubt you have the same suspicions for the wealthier Republican members of congress.

I'd wager that the vast majority of people's motivations, when it comes getting up in the morning and going work, is based in a self interest. However, you can make a lot more money outside of public office.

I think most people who enter into politics do so because they think they can make a change that aligns with their values. Most come to realize the political system is a game that involves money, power and influence. Certainly some take advantage of their office in one way or another.
