Federal employee pay loss during shutdown.

The typical federal employee makes $37 an hour, which translates into $1,480 a week, according to Labor Department data. That’s nearly $1.2 billion in lost pay each week, when multiplied by 800,000 federal workers.

$77,000 a year per federal worker, or $61.6 billion/year for entire federal payroll, presumably civilian only.

Lucky for them, Congress passed a law ensuring they will get paid. Federal workers, particularly the ones not working during the shut down should thank American tax payers.

More like $250BB/year since 800,000 is a quarter of the work force.

    Apparently.

My post is accurate, based on the article. You're off your rocker.

800,000 is supposedly a quarter of the workforce, no?

The President and Congress should take this opportunity and use it as a means to determine just how vital some of these federal positions are. If the shutdown is having little or no effect on national security of the constitutionally mandated functions of government, those those job positions should just be eliminated because it is obvious we don't really need them.

A lot of the jobs furloughed are support positions that you can get buy with short term, but not long term. The people not furloughed will be burned out inside another week.
