Then I guess you need to make him an inside cat if you want him to survive.
Mine's an indoor cat who would like to go through the windows when he sees the neighbor cat or squirrels and birds. But never tries to go out the door even when open while I fetch groceries.
He loves to ignore me most of the time. Once in a while though, he looks over and chirps at me and I chirp back and we argue politics and stuff.
