Right. That's why a general leveling is consistently proposed and it is probably only a matter of time before it is generally acknowledged as desirable. This choice of language was unfortunate to say the least and I can understand why the left sees "equality of opportunity" as a lie.

Liberalism promised only equality before the law, not equality by law. Pursuit of happiness has always been about liberty and not equality.

This was widely perceived as a fiction designed to keep the lower classes in their place. Liberals have been trying to put this genie back in the bottle for 200 years. It hasn't worked.

As mass democracy increases so too will the demand for equality that's for sure. We'll see more and more leveling and eventual totalitarianism.

When most people use the term equal opportunity, what they are is saying no that one should be denied an opportunity through the law.

When conservatives say it that's what they mean. But you can see by earlier remarks, liberals mean something altogether different.
