    2. Ever notice they make a fire with a few sticks and not only do they cook over it but it burns all night long ?

    3. Ever notice how even when its very hot outside they always wear layers of clothing , coats etc?

    4. Ever notice how they always die in mid sentence after only a few seconds?

I have to watch Open Range at least once a year to have a fulfilled life. I'll take The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and the like as I find them.

I like them too. Partly because of the ironies and partly simply because I like them

    5. The bad guys are terrible shots. They live by the gun but can't hit anything over 10 yards with a rifle. In contrast the good guys can pick off 7 men with a 6 shooter at 40 yards.

    Me too.

    OTOH, to answer the questions:
    1) Watching a movie showing them spending two days looking for a ford would be boring. FWIW, the original True Grit showed a deep water crossing.

    2) Buffalo chips were a common fire fuel but kind of unsavory to show on "Bonanza" and "Rawhide". Old joke: Indian father tells young son "Indian keep warm by huddling around small fire with a few sticks of wood. White man build big fire and keep warm running back and forth to gather firewood."

    3) Clothing in movies is for appearance, but layered clothing, especially when riding a horse through brush, is protective much the same way a biker wears leathers...yes, even in summer.

    4) Hollywood!

In Westerns regardless of which mud puddle they fill their very (and I mean "very") long lasting canteens from they never die from it or even get sick. Also, they all drink after each other but nobody seems to mind.
It appears cowpokes never use a restroom. There never is one in the saloons that serve cold beer even though the fridge hadnt been invented yet
