Apublic opinion survey conducted by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal during the partial government shutdown revealed that the approval rating of U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was worse than that of any other politician in the survey.
In the survey, Pelosi had the lowest net approval rating of all politicians listed, at -19. Forty-seven percent of survey participants – nearly half – indicated negative feelings toward Pelosi, and only 28 percent indicated positive feelings toward her – the balance is -19.
President Donald Trump had a net approval rating of -12 and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) had a net approval rating of -18.
Though a higher percentage of Americans felt negatively toward Trump (51 percent) than toward Pelosi (47 percent), the percentage of Americans who had positive feelings toward Trump (39 percent) was also higher than the 28 percent who had positive feelings toward Pelosi.
Although Trump’s rating of -12 is a negative number, it was the highest approval rating of any politician named in the survey.
McConnell’s rating of -18 was almost as low as that of Pelosi. Only 17 percent of Americans expressed positive feelings toward McConnell, while 35 percent indicated negative feelings.
