205 Billion. That's the amount of total corporate tax paid in 2017. It amounts to 0.03% of all taxes paid in the US. There are 5.9 million corporations registered in the US. These are the raw numbers. What they mean is obvious. It means corporations pay almost nothing compared to all of us individuals and small businesses, who cover the other 99.97% of tax revenues.
So how is it that corporations, including incorporated non-profits, hold the majority of the wealth, but pay next to nothing? This is not an argument about what is happening. This is an argument about whether this is right or wrong. And it is most certainly not an argument you can ever win.
