    So atheists....

Yeah, I'm talking to you - the ones who piss and moan about God ordering the Hebrews to exterminate the Cannanites. Or Job's family getting killed. Or kids getting cancer. Or any number of things you pretend to be outraged about.

Why aren't you outraged about the third term abortion laws in New York if you are so worried about kids getting killed? Oh, they're not kids for another minute or two, you say? How about the people who were slaughtered in the Middle East by a certain violent religion we all know? Or how about the deaths from illegal drugs or sex trafficking of minors?

The truth is that you couldn't care less about violence and injustice because you are more concerned about things that may or may not have really happened in a book revered by Christians. Isn't that right?

    No, it isn't right.

I'm an atheist. I'm against abortion. So I guess you don't mean me.

My question to you is, why would an Atheist care about something non-existent?

    As am I.

I have nothing against his belief system or his book. I fully support his right to his religious beliefs and have actually stood between some pretty nasty people and a group (Hindu) that was being threatened in their ashram. I have no more fondness for Hinduism than I do Christianity, but I saw it as a First Amendment issue.

The fact that I don't share their beliefs does not mean I oppose their right to have them. People like the person who started their threat do more damage to their cause than any atheist ever could.

I've been asking myself that same question for a couple of decades now.

The answer, as near as I have been able to tell, is that they don't care a whit about God one way or another, it's us they hate.

I think you'll find the targets of your ire on the left. It is the left, after all, that wants to undermine social norms, customs and institutions and replace that with the state.
