    Post Brett Kavanaugh -vs- Justin Fairfax

    I want to be clear on one point: I am not indicting nor am I calling for the Lt. Governor of Virginia to resign, be flogged etc. I believe in the rule of law and due process. I was clear on that then and I want to be clear on that now. I am curious though. We had the Brett Kavanaugh situation where the left media and SJWNJ's were foaming at the mouth over a decades old unsubstantiated allegation of sexual assault, calling for his head, his firing, we had protests, tears, screaming that Republicans hate women, etc;

    whereas this week we have the Justin Fairfax situation of a decade and a half old unsubstantiated sexual assault allegation and nobody is calling for his head, no calls for his firing, no protests, no tears, etc.

    The question I have is: Why the difference in treatment?

    Because he's a liberal?

    Personally, I think the accusations against people for something they did as college students is BS, given that it wasn't a crime. Their political polarity shouldn't matter. In Kavanaugh's case, it wasn't what he did then, but that I felt he was less-than-honest in testifying under oath. That's not something a Justice should ever do and if it were up to me, I'd have passed on him for it.

    If it turns out that Northam is lying that the picture wasn't him, he should be forced out of office. Not because of what he did then, but because he is lying about it now

    just as I would have done with Kavanaugh.

    As for Fairfax, it's unfortunate that it's a he said/she said situation. There is no other evidence than a single woman's claim. If Fairfax had a history of these accusations like Bill Clinton did, that'd be different. As of now, it appears there is only this single instance. The tit-for-tat of nailing opposing politicians with unsubstantiated accusations is self-destructive. I want justice done and all-to-often assaults and harassment of women often go without justice for them due to the lack of evidence. That doesn't mean every man accused should have to pay for the sins of others.

    In identity politics, those who belong to an oppressed class cannot be oppressors. Those who belong to an oppressor group are automatically oppressors.

    Other than that, liberals are just great moralizers.

    Gentlemen, thanks for both of your considered remarks. I have marked this thread as a "tpf" thread b/c of the potential to draw trolls. Thank you. Bob, I think he was candid given the time lapse but I respect your opinion and otherwise agree with your comments. Chris, so true.

    Agreed. It's a major instance of where Democrats/Liberals are wrong: Black, Hispanics and anyone else can be racists too, not just the formerly European "oppressors". The recent Woman's March was tainted with racism because their leaders aligned with Louis Farrakhan, a well known racist and antisemitic. In their rush to support the cause of woman's rights, this particular group, they've embraced racists. It's immoral IMO for them to do so.

    At this time, I see no correlation between this idea and Fairfax's current problems although there could be.

    Identity politics, of which race is one intersection, can attack as well as protect. In Fairfax's case it protects him from accusations whereas in Kavanaugh's case it opened him to attacks.

    I hadn't connected Fairfax's immunity to race, but merely to political side. I could be wrong.

    Probably a combination. Prejudices are subtle.

    Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's case is pure politics.

    It's both in one sense. Being black protects him if he's a Democrat. Being a liberals covers anyone else.

    Perhaps because the lieutenant governorship of Virginia isn't a lifetime office with the potential to adversely affect millions of Americans when an obvious partisan hack like Kavenaugh is appointed?
