for the past 200 years plus, Poland has been the target of Russia and Germany. So Poland resists and now they are the bad guys?

Russia held up Cuba for years until they also started to collapse. Ever hear of the Cuban Missile Crisis?

That's an odd way of describing Poland's justifiable fear of Russia but you're starting to get it. Poland asked for this base. Secondly, not sure what the difference between political and reasonable might be but Poland's fear of a resurgent Russia attempting to reassert herself on the world stage is quite reasonable.

Incorrect....Poland was the target of U.S.S.R. and their leaders ....and no one suffered more under Stalin than Russia ......Russia was also attacked by Germany . The modern Russia is not the old Russia , nor is it the USSR .

Historically, Poland has had the weakest military and the easiest target. Germany first declared war on Poland that led WWII.

In the wise words of the Who

'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
    We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no no

    Yeaaah!
    Meet the new boss
    Same as the old boss

The Soviet Union invaded Poland along with Hitler's Nazi Germany. Poland has no significant natural obstacles to invasions.
