Why do you persist with this idiotic idea that the purpose of nuke drills and bomb shelters was indoctrination?

Because that's the only thing that makes sense. and because it worked. Other than that nothing really. And your theory is what? It was to protect the kids long enough so they could die of painful radiation poisoning? Hide from that direct hit under their wooden desk? LOL
Much, much, much better was to raise a generation to hate the commie red rats and not question ANY of our aggression against them or other EVIL countries. Or arms sales, or nuke proliferation, or interventionism, or sanctions or general controllism.

I suppose I cannot blame you for knowing almost nothing.

An airburst has almost no residual radiation (fallout). One gets immediate blast, radiation, and thermal effects. The immediate radiation and thermal effects are essentially line-of-sight phenomena. For the majority of the nuclear weapons available in the 1950-1970s anyone more than five miles or so away would survive as long as they avoided the thermal effects. Nearly everybody would survive.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

No, that doesn't make sense. When the airline instructs me on how to escape after the plane crashes what is their intention? To indoctrinate me? To scare me away from flying? Or perhaps to give the impression (no matter how far fetched) that I will somehow manage to live through it? Could it be to calm fears instead of heighten them? Tell me, does your mind really work this way?

Controlism is a goofy doesn't read neologism.

I remember nuke attack drills in elementary. Same as tornado drills. We'd get under desks and look out the big plate glass windows for twisters and mushroom clouds. Fire drills were better because then we got to go outside to the playground.

Does the tornado industrial complex still wield a lot of power?

I was reminded yesterday of the difference between Socialism and Individual Freedom.

Where Individual Freedom, and the individual responsibility it requires, is cherished...the 'People' give and take away the 'rights' of their Gov't.
Where Socialism is cherished...the Gov't gives and takes away the 'rights' of the individual.

Except for the polluted food and water, right? What you describe would equate them to just big ordinary bombs and would NOT have stopped the powers from getting at each other's throats for 70 plus years. So I question your information. Think about it.

I think their intention is to meet silly federal guidelines. The odds are you won't survive a real crash anyway. Controlism is real. It dominates what men do. It is in effect the eighth deadly or perhaps the other 7 rolled into one.
Let me put it this way The air raid drills raised a generation that seldom questioned whom or why their government killed.

The food won't be any more polluted than through the use of any other explosive.

You question me because you know so little. Think about it.
