    Why do Democrats...

    ...oppose the wall?

Because I hear time after time that works don't work. If that is the case, shouldn't the Democrats let the Republicans build it so it can demonstrate that fact? And then take them to task for spending the money on a stupid project?

Surely that would be a sound strategy for them. And deviates have spent plenty of money on stupid projects so what is one more?

While I might not think the wall is the best plan, I've not heard of any great ideas coming from either party about our broken border or our suicidal immigration system.

I'm game to hearing good arguments to those two critical problems.

Sent from my evil cell phone.

Some Democrats do, indeed, support "open borders" which is just unrealistic BS. Most Americans, regardless of political affiliation, realize we need to fix our illegal immigration problems and that a wall isn't the cure-all it's purported to be.

Overall, only 4 in 10 favor building a wall. Fewer than half our respondents were convinced by the argument that a wall would prevent potential threats from coming into the country and would strengthen U.S. borders. Nearly two-thirds, including 4 in 10 Republicans, were persuaded by the counterargument: Because migrants can always find alternative routes to crossing the border, there are better methods for deterring illegal entry.....

    ....
By contrast, 72 percent favored a Republican-sponsored congressional }&s=4&r=11"]proposal that would require employers to use the existing E-Verify system to ensure that they hire only people who have the legal right to work in the United States. Fully 83 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of Democrats supported the bill.
At the same time, 8 in 10 respondents agreed that “many industries in the United States … need immigrant labor, which is why they currently hire millions of them. It would be much better if this process was done in a legal way.”

Democrats only started to oppose this when Trump made it one of his primary issues.

And if third world people voted for Republicans we'd have a wall bigger than China's by now.

Dems don't want a wall and neither do I because the whole was an idiot promise made by Trump during his campaign. It's not realistic, it won't work and what we really need is an immigration system that can handle it.

He's never going to get his wall.

That is an extraordinarily stupid thing to say.

Like I said. Democrats were for it until Trump made it a centerpiece of his campaign. Then they became against it.

They’ll be for it again after Trump completes his one or two terms.
