    Using Hands-Free Devices While Driving Not So Risky: Research. New research suggests that drivers who use hands-free electronic devices, as opposed to handheld ones, are not increasing their risk of getting into a crash.

    Hands-free is closer to talking to someone in the vehicle with you.

    Maybe better. I've seen more than a few people who can't seem to talk to passengers without making eye contact with them. We should push hard to make driverless cars a relatively safe reality. Then we can yak all we want and read and eat and snooze and put on makeup and play games and smoke pot and get drunk if we want.

    Given the behavior of some people, it would be doing the rest of the people on the road a service.
