No porn site could be blocked. They can change URL's anytime. There is no way to enforce this.

Most pornography is not speech at all, people. Basically it is actual men physically mistreating, humiliating, and abusing actual women for the amusement of other actual men. In real life. Choking someone, hitting someone, actual violence (which is present in nearly porn, incidentally) is not speech, it is violence and psychological desensitization of the consumer thereto.

As to the cartoons depicting 12 year girls being mutilated by monsters while screaming "NO! PLEASE NOOOO!!" at the top of their lungs, I believe we could justifiably classify that in the genuine hate speech category.

Just because an act is committed in a sexual context doesn't make it sex. The sexualization is just there to make it addictive to consumers, like nicotine is for tobacco. The substantive content of a cigarette is tobacco. The substantive content of porn is misogyny. Both things should be actively discouraged by society, I believe.

The purpose of declaring it a public health crisis is, as pointed out in the OP, to call the public's attention to research showing pornography to be addictive and harmful. It's a first step, not a final step.

Personally, I am an abolitionist: I don't consider pornography to generally constitute a form of speech and would support an outright ban on it. The measures that have been proposed in Arizona don't go that far, but they are steps that would be very helpful, I believe.

As to the 'definition of porn is subjective'...yeah a LITTLE, I guess, but let's be honest, basically it's not. That's just a lame cop-out. You know good and well what the contents of a site called Porn Hub are, do you not? Are you really going to play that dumb?

You are wrong, legally. It is art and art is speech. You and I may not agree with it but it is art. Maybe not your art or my art, but someone's art -- hence, protected. Those cartoons are legal as art. Again, we may not like it but the First Amendment is messy. They aren't hate speech, they are art. The Courts have said so. Sorry. I don't like the Crucifix Urine art thingy but it is protected and I would never move to ban it - but would never go to see it.

I said the definition of obscenity is subjective. I'm legally correct. You can't ban porn but you may be able to ban obscenity but the issue would be what is obscene and who decides. There are a lot of things that are addictive and harmful but that are legal.

If the law says that porn is art then the law is self-evidently wrong and needs to be changed.

You would have to change the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Be careful. Be very very careful in letting the government restrict your freedom of expression (which art is).

If you think you can enact prohibitions against pornography without jeopardizing your own freedom of expression, then you are gravely mistaken.
