I have to admit I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata that is not paid for yet. However my 1998 Jeep Wrangler is, my 2001 Suzuki GS500 motorcycle is and my 1979 AMF Sunbird 16 Sailboat is. I insure that my toys are never bought on credit. If I don't have the cash, I don't get another toy. Besides, that means if all goes to hell in a handbasket I can still keep my toys!!

I do think that a newer car is a must given the high cost of repairs these days. When replacing a water pump can set you back close to $1000.00 having a car under warranty is definitely worth considering.

I think that as long as I'm putting less than a $1000 a year that I'm ahead of the game. I drive the 08 as my daily driver. It's an Avalon and I drive all over Ohio for court. I got it in 08 when P1 started college and said I'd keep it til the kids were done. P2 has a year and a half to go. I drive the 18 Tacoma when the weather is bad (as in today).

Not that people shouldn't be responsible, but all this "debt" is a fraud, as is fractional reserve banking, and all of these loans are conjured out of thin air, nothing more than legal counterfeit.

The difference between us is what I did with the additional money. My priority was to build wealth.

    You are being responsible.

I do have a weakness. Every other year I buy a top of the line games machine. But that is 5K or less out of pocket.

On the other hand, the 300 million of us who enjoyed the shutdown think we should have more of them.
