    I bought a 12-pound rock

Last week I saw five deer walk across my back yard. I would like for them to come a bit closer. So, I bought a salt and mineral twelve-pound rock to place in my yard. Once the woods are not quite so wet I will place it on top of a large flat rock about 40 feet from my office window.

Today I think I will place it on the far end of one retaining wall.

The birds were interested. And one squirrel.

That is a great idea. I was thinking of buying one too, but not just so I can see the deer, but for their enjoyment. My deer come really close all of the time. They are really beautiful. Right now their coats are really fuzzy. I never have my camera on me when I am out and they come by. I am always just so glad to be seeing them that I don't run for the camera.

    About where are you located?
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Get a 50 lb bag of shelled corn ($6.00 in most places). Dump the entire bag on the ground. If the deer are in the neighborhood they will come visit. The debris you see on the side was a barrel that dispensed the corn every couple of hours. The bears didn't want to wait that long so they tore it down, even after I sunk it in concrete!

I love deer, steaks, in chili, stew and jerky. We have 3 in the freezer this year.

You might want to set it on something the salt/minerals can soak into like a stump if you have one. What's your retaining wall made out of.?

I've heard, if you plant a patch of turnips, deer will come, because they love turnips....I don't know if it's true, but, it's what I've heard.
