Monsanto Roundup Attacks Healthy Gut Bacteria, Lawsuit Says

Monsanto Co. has been sued by thousands of farmers and others who blame their cancers on its massively popular Roundup weedkiller. Now Germany’s Bayer AG, which bought the agriculture giant last year, faces a claim that it deceived home gardeners about Roundup’s impact on their gut bacteria and their health.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in federal court in Kansas City, Missouri, claims that labels on products such as Roundup’s Weed & Grass Killer falsely assured consumers that they target an enzyme not found “in people or pets.”


According to the suit -- which names three consumers as plaintiffs seeking unspecified monetary damages and class action status -- Roundup’s active ingredient glyphosate attacks an enzyme also found in the beneficial intestinal bacteria of humans and some animals.

Your not supposed to drink or intentionally inhale any chemical, they can all harm you. We all have cleaning products in our house that can kill us too.

Im not defending roundup what im asking is it any more dangerous than many other things we come into contact with everyday.

So I have a thought. When we eat our fruit and vegetables we are eating this roundup. It is sprayed on our crops, and not only that they are modifying the stuff to have the weed killer inside of it. This way they don't have to spray the fields. So either way they do it, we are ingesting this horrible cancer causing, stuff.

Now that this came out about it possibly killing gut bacteria, that has me thinking. If we do not have the proper gut bacteria, we cannot make vitamin D in our bodies, or uptake nutrients properly. Could this be part of the reason for the vitamin D defficiency epidemic, or part of the cause of us not getting propper nutrients? This is a good question, and very plausable.

True, we are not supposed to eat it, but we do. They use it on our crops. Rinsing will not work it is inside of the fruits and vegetables. We can buy organic sure. But can we even be sure then? Not totally. But anytime you can buy organic it can help. The less toxins we ingest the better.

Where does it say you cant wash roundup off? I would like to see that

You can't totally remove glysophate from food that roundup is used on. Here is a list of the foods most heavily sprayed and hold residue:

• Soy (this means soy products and soy or vegetable oil)
• Corn and corn oil
• Canola seeds used in canola oil
• Beets and beet sugar
• Almonds
• Dried peas
• Carrots
• Quinoa
• Sweet potatoes

And what about the gmo plants that are engineered to have the weed killer inside of the plant itself? You certainly cant wash that off. But I dont really know enough about how that works to say I am right on that one. It is just a thought. The ones that it is sprayed on, you know that some of it washes into the soil and gets took up into the plant. I am sure of that.

I hope they ban everything that contains Glyphosate. I also hope they ban GMO crops that were altered to contain pesticides. Let's say they genetically alter corn so the corn contains a pesticide, then they feed it to livestock. The pesticide will be stored in the animal's fat. Then when you eat the meat you will consume the pesticide. Same goes for soy that they also feed to animals. How about grain? Some people stop eating grain because it contains gluten, gluten being a lectin. But when they feed grain to livestock, the lectins (gluten) get stored in the meat. Then when you eat the meat you get those lectins.

This is junk science. Stomach acid breaks down almost everything including glyphosate.
