I adore glyphosate. It's essentially impossible to control invasive species without it.

Say I cut down a big Asian Honeysuckle bush.

If I don't treat the cut stump, it will quickly resprout, and my work will have been wasted.

If I immediately spray the cut stump with 20% glyphosate, it stays dead. Every time.

For that reason, and for saving millions from starvation, and for saving the soil by allowing no-till agriculture, I consider glyphosate to be one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century.

MisterVeritis, read the article in the above link, especially the 3rd paragraph about the lawsuit against Monsanto's Glyphosate that was won by, Dewayne Johnson. He was awarded millions of dollars and his case has set a precedent. There are thousands more cases waiting to do the same.

    I read this article before.

Other than the win of stupid people over science what do you believe it means?

Monsanto can afford to hire the very best lawyers to prove that Glyphosate is safe, so what's preventing them from doing so? They even get to approve or disapprove of who gets on the jury. They even get to appeal the 289 million that was awarded to Dewayne Johnson. So, you think the problem is that everyone on the jury was stupid?

Lawyers don't prove things are safe. In this case, medical researchers do. Show me the double-blind studies.

Yes, stupid people won. We all lose when stupid people win.

Well, Monsanto's defense lawyers are in charge of picking which medical researchers will be up to the task of helping them to prove their case. If they pick ineffective medical researchers, it's their own fault if they lose, is it not? Maybe Monsanto's lawyers are stupid for picking ineffective (stupid) medical researchers.

Double-blind studies are for drug companies. Who would volunteer to take a pill with a 50% chance the pill would contain Glyphosate?

If you don't like double-blind studies create your own rigorous, repeatable, legitimate studies.

I have read there are more than 800 studies showing glyphosate is safe when used as labeled. We have been using it for about 40 years. Non-Hodgkins lymphoma is considered to be rare. If exposure causes cancer one would expect far more incidences.

Stupid people won. And you support them. I hope your family will go hungry.

It's not that I don't like double-blind studies, I like them for testing drugs where they are appropriate.

800 studies? That's amazing! How come you haven't even shown us one study to prove to us how safe it is?

Stupid people won. And you support them. I hope your family will go hungry.
So, your position is that without Roundup people will go hungry. How ridiculous. Where's your proof?

True. Devise your own science-based tests. Political statements are not sufficient.

It would be like casting pearls before swine. You would not read them but you would dismiss them.

sigh. Without weed control, we would lose more crops to weeds.
