The debt is not on the radar of Joe Q Public because there is no effect on him. If we had an austerity act that made people, politicians, and corporate and personal welfare recipients feel some pain maybe we could find the political will to slow this runaway debt train some before we hit the gulch where the bridge once stood.
As it stands now, the common man sees some numbers on a TV newscast and just burps on the way from the recliner to the fridge at the commercial break.

" I'm old-fashioned. I like two sexes! And another thing, all of a sudden I don't like being married to what is known as a 'new woman'. I want a wife, not a competitor. Competitor! Competitor!" - Spencer Tracy in 'Adam's Rib' (1949)
Art thou every retard among us related to thine uncle or mistress by way of moral or illegitimate rendezvous? Thus, we are one side of the other's coin by luck or pluck. - Jimmyz
I haven't heard her address the debt issue yet. That's odd seeing that she supposedly has a bachelor's degree in economics. One would think debt would be her big issue. Of course you also would have just assumed she would have understood the Amazon HQ2 issue as well.
I don't how anyone could have any credibility to address the problems of the burdening debt while advocating something like the green new deal. Maybe she knows that, so she doesn't talk about debt.
Remember a few years ago when the people balked at raising the debt ceiling to what 18 trillion? A big deal was made of it and the donkephant said the world would stop revolving if we couldn't keep borrowing money even though we could not afford the interest we already had to pay? Then they promised to fix the problem with the "scalpel" instead of the "hatchet" ? Now they just raise it without notice?
