Who among us will make the newspapers?

I've been online since the mid-1980s. Of course, in those days it was BBS's and we'd meet every few months to "compare" software, drink beer and BBQ around an apartment pool.

Since those days I've known a few members who've died of illness (being online was their only link to the outside world), one committed murder (his mother..and he was a mod!), two were killed in ultralight crashes but, except for the murderer, I know of no one who has been arrested or committed suicide. Others here may have varying stories, one reason for this thread. Anonymous forums have benefits and detriments compared to a local pub. In a pub, if someone stops showing up, they often know why. In anonymous forums that isn't the case. People disappear for no known reason; arrested, murdered, suicide, died of heart attack, etc.

Recently, a USCG LT was arrested for domestic terrorism. He believed in white nationalism and that there'd be a civil war is Trump was forced out of office. Let's not forget there are violent LWers too as James Hodgkinson proved.

That said, who here do you think might end up in the newspapers one day? Not claiming anyone is violent, nuts or anything else. Just that they'll suddenly be forced to stop posting and be in the newspapers for their 15 minutes of fame. Again: no accusations. Just your guess on who is most likely to end up in the newspapers; that's the only criteria.

For example, there are several people here who I think won't fit that category, starting with me. I'll list those along with those who I do think are most likely to end up in the newspapers after a few posts if anyone cares to participate.

Obituaries are free, I suspect all if not most will make the papers, assuming there are still newspapers when they expire.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

I too have remarked on peoples' disappearances from boards, and have suggested that people who know they're leaving this board be encouraged to announced it on a thread reserved for the purpose. I wonder about them when they leave, and that's a distraction that could be avoided.

But I really doubt that anyone gets so upset as to be triggered into an act worthy of making the news.

In my experience, people who suddenly disappear from a forum do not do it by choice.

True, we all die, but most people who are dying of an ailment make a point to mention it. Therefore their disappearance isn't a surprise.

one committed murder (his mother..and he was a mod!),
Yea I remember him well. I put up a thread and he started PMing me and about the third one I finally responded. He asked me not to out him or discuss anything he said on public form while he was there and I kept my promise. I tried to be nice or civil to him in my responses but I knew he was a very disturbed young man.

Yes, it was a sad case. Another reason why I fully support better mental health care in our nation over "banning" things.

What an obnoxious and creepy thread topic.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

Don't worry, Ethie, you're not among those who I think are both crazy enough and have the spine to make the newspapers. You'll die in obscurity.

I could easily see DGUtley making the news by setting some legal precedent.
