Those old trucks look especially nice in saturated colors. However, a candy apple paint job is special (and expensive). It's applied in many layers so that there's a visual depth to the paint. It refracts light differently and on a vehicle with curvy elements, it's even prettier. I'm a big fan of candy apple finishes on old muscle cars and vintage vehicles in general. Of course, if anyone or anything scratches it, there will be tears. It's not an easy touch-up.
Here's an example:
Isn't that gorgeous!?

Well, I just got my first set-back. He sent me an email telling me that he has a problem with a current project and can't start on my truck until late March. I said fine, but our agreed upon timeline and penalty for not meeting it is still in effect. He said that he understand that completely.
I wouldn't advocate it for just any vehicle. However, I respect your taste in finishes. The only finish I abhor is flashy gold. However, there are some vehicles, like the one I posted that can carry a candy apple finish well. I don't see candy apple so much as flash as changing the finish into something jewel-like and only some vehicles can carry it off well. To me flashy, is painting a vehicle screaming yellow or a neon color or gold flake.

You almost want to taste it, it's so beautiful. My hubby was also seriously into cars - a bit of a gear-head - rebuilding them etcetera years ago. He educated me on the candy apple finish. I've seen that finish on different kinds of vehicles, but IMO, the ones that carry it off best have curves.

Many older cars and trucks look great in candy apple red. I like it. It's just not for me. I like something more subtle. I don't like to attract attention.
Besides, I'm doing a truck. It's not a 40 ford coupe. It needs to look like a truck. A truck is supposed to be tough. No truck looks tougher than a 57 Chevy.
