Post Night at the Garden - 1939 Nazi Rally at MSG

Archival footage of an American Nazi rally that attracted 20,000 people at Madison Square Garden in 1939, shortly before the beginning of World War 2.

In 1939, 20,000 Americans rallied in New York’s Madison Square Garden to celebrate the rise of Nazism – an event largely forgotten from American history. A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, made entirely from archival footage filmed that night, transports audiences to this chilling gathering and shines a light on the power of demagoguery and anti-Semitism in the United States.

Wow, 20,000 Trump supporting Capitalist in MSG in 1939. Who would have thought that possible?

Disclaimer: I know the Nazi Party USA was actually disgruntled Democrats who thought we weren't socialist enough and supported the policies of FDR.

Quote anything from that link actually confirming your comment that democrats opposed the GAB because you are creating a reputation for making statements and attributing them to links where no such statements exist. You did it yesterday too.

At the same time, Congressman Samuel Dickstein, Chairman of the Committee on Naturalization and Immigration, became aware of the substantial number of foreigners legally and illegally entering and residing in the country, and the growing anti-Semitism along with vast amounts of anti-Semitic literature being distributed in the country. This led him to investigate independently the activities of Nazi and other fascist groups, leading to the formation of the Special Committee on Un-American Activities Authorized to Investigate Nazi Propaganda and Certain Other Propaganda Activities. Throughout the rest of 1934, the Committee conducted hearings, bringing before it most of the major figures in the American fascist movement.[8] Dickstein's investigation concluded that the Friends represented a branch of German dictator Adolf Hitler's Nazi Party in the United States.[9][10]

Samuel Dickstein (February 5, 1885 – April 22, 1954) was a Democratic Congressional Representative from New York (22-year tenure) and a New York State Supreme Court Justice.

U.S. Congressman Martin Dies (D-Texas) and his House Committee on Un-American Activities were active in denying any Nazi-sympathetic organization the ability to operate freely during World War II. In the last week of December 1942, led by journalist Dorothy Thompson, fifty leading German-Americans (including baseball icon Babe Ruth) signed a "Christmas Declaration by men and women of German ancestry" condemning Nazism, which appeared in ten major American daily newspapers.

That's correct, the Nazis were the rightwing of socialism and the Democrats supported the left wing of socialism, communism.

That's true, the major efforts leading up to and during WWII were directed against the Nazis. At the time, American socialists and communists pretty much aligned with FDR against the Nazis and so were left alone. They weren't much of a threat anyway because during WWI the government had acted against socialists and pretty much shut them down. And once the Nazis were defeated, attention turned again to socialists and communist in the Cold War.

Nice, neat work. Evenly spaced cut-and-paste and a good amount of verbage! Good job!! A+!!!

By the way, is there some deeper meaning there somewhere that nobody but you and Chris can grasp? Because I, for one, fail to grasp your point. Not looking for a smoking gun here, you understand, just some small thing supporting the contention that Democrats were not nazis or sympathetic to GAB or Hitler because it looks to me like somebody in that clip sure was.

There's some irony. You're accusing me of what you did last night. How hypocritical of you to ask me to back up my claim when you refuse to do so yourself.

Alexa beat me too it, but there you go...
