They do look like cages . The government should not contracted this out. But kids should only be separated from their parents when absolutely necessary. Once you take the kids from their parents ( probably done partially to send a message and discourage other families from crossing) you are responsible for their physical and emotional safety. You can't let them wander into the dessert. For the teens separating the boys and girls makes this job much easier. The problem is not the cage, the problem is not keeping families together or simply turning them around. Can we not just turn the whole family around at the border?
But the issue behind the issue is that the donkephant allowed this to reach this level over decades because it served them, not the people, certainly not the American worker, but the politicians and their owners.

Take your children to Canada and cross illegally. Or take them to Mexico and cross illegally. You'll be detained.....but in detention you won't have your children with you, Canada and Mexico don't place minors in with adults who have been detained....cause they're not stupid. Had the US put children in detention with their parents and they were molested or harmed......donttread and others would be blaming the US.
