I'm with the giving the dog to others gang. Now, while it is still young.

Or... if he really likes the dog, he could give away the kid.

    Problem solved.

Just give the dog away. Just because he's growling doesn't mean he's aggressive, especially as a pup that's not neutered. And yet, you're contemplating a ridiculous extreme. It would be best if you found a new home for the dog asap

    That statement is just incorrect.

If a dog shows incompatibility with small children...don't put the dog in an environment with small children. Not complex. Have had a couple of (wonderful) dogs that didn't get along with the little ear pulling rodents (children).

Sounds like your mutt just needs to find a new home.

Or the growling can be a signal from the dog telling the kid to stay away. What kind of interaction have the dog and the child had in the past? If the kid has roughly treated the dog like a stuffed animal maybe the dog is reacting accordingly.

Any growling, aside from play growling, is a sign of aggression....it's the way a dog says, "stay away from me or I will bite you."

A wise, dog person knows the difference between the two growls.

Exactly, don't put the dog in a situation in which he will fail....it won't end well for the dog.
