If the party hack shows a willingness to tell reality-defying lies and get publicly humiliated for it on behalf of TheParty, that demonstrates their loyalty to TheParty, and that earns them prestige with the other party apparatchiks.

And given the violent and unstable nature of TheCultOfTrump, it's a matter of life and death to remain in good standing with the cult. Cultists hate apostates even more than they hate non-cultists.
