I'd like to see us out of Europe. I also don't care what they do or who attacks them. I'd like a good reason for us being in Europe 74 years after WWII. They can never pay us back but we don't have to keep them on the tab.

Germany has paid back all of its reparations:

"After World War II, according to the Potsdam conference held between July 17 and August 2, 1945, Germany was to pay the Allies US$23 billion mainly in machinery and manufacturing plants. Reparations to the Soviet Union stopped in 1953. Large numbers of factories were dismantled or destroyed.[citation needed] Dismantling in the west stopped in 1950.Beginning before the German surrender and continuing for the next two years, the United States pursued a vigorous program of harvesting all technological and scientific know-how as well as all patents and many leading scientists in Germany (known as Operation Paperclip). On January 14th 1946, in Paris, two forms of reparation were set up for the allies, in forms of shares: all reparations including funds, and those in the form of 'industrial and other capital equipment'. The U.K., U.S., France and Yugoslavia were the biggest shareholders.

Germany is one of the EU nations that is pushing for a stronger EU, even to the point of a political union. This would be a step in that direction.

But a nightmare when the union eventually fails which is as likely as not. It does not seem like a smart move even to try to push a closer alliance. Also aren't many of the German people sick of the effects of Merkel et al's globalism?

I think the big German push against globalism was directed towards cultural globalism. I don't think many of that group mind regional consolidation.

Yes, if the EU fell apart after this carrier was in operation that would be awkward.

The US has stayed in Europe to prevent any improvement in the relationships between Russia , EU and the Baltic states .....which is America's greatest fear . They also stay in the Middle East for the same reason.

Those Baltic States aspired to join NATO fearing Russian aggression, Putin and Russia vehemently opposing the Baltic States themselves wishing to join NATO as former Soviet States. For the love of God. Ukraine wishing to join the EU for exactly the same reason.
