The ongoing , never ending, US DEATH STAR!

Lets call this the ANTI WAR thread! Will someone sticky it?

[...i notice the goddamned republicrat fools are AGAIN working their holes about some little-league terrorism...this time in new zealand...the $#@!ing republicrat fools never acknowledge that the people for whom they vote/cheerlead/apologize are THE ALL-TIME WORLD CHAMPION TERRORISTS...]

    https://www.fff.org/2019/03/14/the-ongo ... eath-star/

The U.S. national-security establishment’s death star continues operating at full-speed and on auto-pilot. According to an article in Newsweek, the Pentagon and the CIA have now killed half-a-million people since 9/11. The article didn’t say how many of those dead people are estimated to have participated in the 9/11 attacks but I’d say that a reasonable estimate would be maybe 10 or 20 at the most. That would mean that 498,980 people who have been killed by the U.S. death star since 9/11 had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.

Moreover, those half-a-million deaths don’t include the hundreds of thousands of people who have been killed in the U.S.-incited civil wars in Syria and Lebanon.

That’s a a lot of dead people at the hands of the U.S. national-security state. It’s surely got to be some sort of record. And it hasn’t stopped. The U.S. death star continues operating apace.

This week an article on splinternews.com stated that in 2018 U.S. forces operating in Somalia
killed 326 people. So far this year, the U.S. death star has killed 225 people in Somalia.

Somalia? Yes, Somalia! Why Somalia? Well, apparently all those dead people in Somalia were considered to be threats to U.S. “national security,” whatever that term means, and therefore needed to have their lives snuffed out by the U.S. death star.

Ever since the U.S. death star began operating in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. mainstream media has expressed concern for civilians who are killed as part of the death star’s operations against “terrorists.” That, of course, is a valid concern.

But hardly anyone questions the legitimacy of the death star itself. That is, the underlying assumption is that the death star is operating legitimately when it targets “terrorists” or “combatants” or “insurgents.” Therefore, the notion goes, it’s no big deal that they’re killing those people. They just have to be more careful, the media feels, about killing innocent civilians in the process.

Consider the following sentence from the New York Times in an article about the U.S. air war in Somalia:

A surge in American airstrikes over the last four months of 2018 pushed the annual death toll of suspected Shabab fighters in Somalia to the third record high in three years.

Do you notice the operative word in that sentence? It is the word “suspected.”

Why is that word important? Because the people who are operating the death star aren’t really sure whether the people they are killing are actually guilty of being “Shabab fighters” or, in more common parlance, “terrorists.”

They might believe they are terrorists. But they can’t be sure. But for the death star that doesn’t matter. As long as there is a reasonable possibility that the targets are terrorists, that’s good enough.

Or maybe the standard of proof for these state-inflicted assassinations is “a preponderance of the evidence” or maybe “clear and convincing evidence” or maybe just “reasonable suspicion.”

We don’t really know how they determine which people are going to have their lives snuffed out today. They insist on keeping that part of their operations secret. They say that we just need to trust them.

In the early years of the U.S. national-security state after World War II, the Pentagon and the CIA did their best to keep their assassinations secret. They didn’t want Americans to know about their assassinations. Today, much of their assassination program is obviously out in the open. Their ongoing, never-ending death star continues assassinating people openly and with impunity. The secrecy is with respect to how they decide whose life is going to be snuffed out today.

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, people in foreign lands don’t like being assassinated, especially by an all-powerful imperial force like the U.S. government. Families of assassination victims oftentimes do not forget. Some of them inevitably seek vengeance.

Let me tell you what U.S. death-star officials are going to say if there is a terrorist attack in retaliation for the massive number of deaths inflicted by the U.S. death star. They’re going to say the same thing they said after the 9/11 attacks: “The terrorists just hate us for our freedom and values. That’s why they have struck. Pay no mind to libertarians who are pointing out that this attack is more blowback arising from the U.S. national-security state’s ongoing, never-ending death star.”

In fact, they’ll say much the same thing if there is another act of mass killing here at home without any apparent justification: “This random act of mass killing has nothing to do with our death star’s total indifference to the value of human life overseas. We just need gun control to resolve the problem of mass killing here at home.”

Meanwhile, as the death star continues on auto-pilot, the American people continue going to church every Sunday, where they are exhorted to pray that the death star be kept safe from harm as it continues to wreak its death and destruction in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and, now, Africa.

Perhaps it’s worth mentioning that the same Newsweek article that detailed the number of deaths at the hands of the Pentagon and CIA points out that the U.S. government has spent $6 trillion dollars in these forever wars that have killed half-a-million people, almost none of whom had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks. That’s worth mentioning in the context of the 23 trillion federal debt that is now hanging over American taxpayers, and growing by the day.

It’s also worth mentioning that the threat of retaliation from all this death and destruction is what has been used as the excuse to destroy the freedom and privacy of the American people. That’s how we have come to live under a regime in which the military and the CIA wield the legal authority to detain, torture, spy on, and even assassinate American citizens, totalitarian powers that have been fully confirmed by an extremely deferential federal judiciary.

Obviously, there is but one solution to all this death and destruction: Stop the death star at once, bring it home, and dismantle it. That is a necessary prerequisite to restoring freedom, peace, prosperity, and harmony to our land.

The Horrific Long-Term Consequences of Regime Changeby Jacob G. Hornberger

    March 15, 2019

84-year-old Emma Thiessen Alvarez has never forgotten the day in 1981 when Guatemalan officials came to her house looking for her daughter, a student leader who had escaped from military custody. Unable to find her, the officials settled for Thiessen’s 14-year-old son. She never saw him again.

Thiesen’s story was highlighted in a recent New York Times article because the Guatemalan legislature is now contemplating granting a blanket amnesty to military officials who participated in the rein of terror that the Guatemalan national-security establishment inflicted on the Guatemalan people for period of some 36 years.

Thiessen and other Guatemalans who were victimized during that period of time are not happy about the proposed amnesty. As Edgar Perez, a human-rights lawyer, put it, “For the victims, the sentence is their certificate of truth. It is their history.”

Guatemalans are not the only ones who have an interest in what is now occurring in that country. So do the American people. That’s because it was the U.S. national-security establishment that set into motion the events that ultimately led to the death of Emma Thiessen Alvarez’s son, along with 200,000 other Guatemalans, as well as to massive human-rights violations at the hands of the Guatemalan national-security establishment.

As Americans reflect on the mass carnage, destruction, and suffering and the hundreds of thousands of deaths produced by U.S. regime-change efforts in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran, Yemen, and Afghanistan, it’s important to also keep in mind the deaths produced by U.S. regime change in Guatemala in 1954. That was when the CIA initiated a military coup that succeeded in destroying Guatemala’s democratic system and replacing it with a brutal, unelected military dictatorship.

Guatemalan voters had democratically elected a socialist named Jacobo Arbenz, a man whose economic philosophy mirrored those of many American politicians today, both Democrat and Republican. U.S. officials concluded that Arbenz was a threat to U.S. national security, not only because of his socialist policies but also owing to his desire to reach out to the communist Soviet Union, including Russia, in a spirt of peace and friendship. By this time, the U.S. national-security establishment was waging its Cold War against the Soviet Union, which ironically had been America’s
WWII partner and ally. The Pentagon and the CIA were convinced that the Russians were coming to get us as part of a worldwide communist conspiracy based in Moscow. In the minds of the Pentagon and CIA, Arbenz was part of that communist conspiracy and, therefore, needed to be removed from office before the Reds were able to come and take over the United States.

The CIA targeted Guatemalan officials with assassination. Americans are still not permitted to see which officials were going to be murdered (“national security,” of course), but surely Arbenz was at the top of the list. He was able to escape the country before the CIA could assassinate him.

Not surprisingly, the CIA installed into power a brutal “law and order” military tyrant, one whose military dictatorship proceeded to wage a vicious war against leftist-oriented Guatemalans. As the leftists fought back, the country was thrown into a violent civil war that lasted 36 years. At least 200,000 people were killed, with the full support of the U.S. national-security establishment, which took the position that their military regime was protecting America and the world from the worldwide communist conspiracy that was supposedly based in Moscow and that was supposedly coming to get us.

At the time it succeeded in ousting Arbenz and installing a military regime in his stead, the CIA was ecstatic over its success. Internal celebrations were held and medals were awarded. T
he same thing happened after the CIA’s regime-change operation in Iran in 1953, the year before the Guatemalan regime-change operation. After succeeding in destroying Iran’s democratic system and installing, training, and supporting the viciously brutal tyranny of the Shah, the CIA internally celebrated its success and handed out the medals to those who had brought it about.

Today, more than half-a-century later, Americans, Iranians, and Guatemalans are still living with the horrific long-term consequences of those U.S. regime-change operations.
It’s something for Americans to keep in mind as the U.S. national-security establishment continues to effect regime-change operations in various parts of the world today. Just ask 84-year-old Guatemalan Emma Thiessen Alvarez, who still feels the pain of losing her 14-year-old son to U.S.-supported Guatemalan military brutes. All this brutality occured under head of CIA, Allen Dulles, and his homicidal Se. of state brother, John Foster Dulles, when Ike was Prez , 1954. The same period that Se. Joe Mccarthy was going nutso about communists in out Gubmint! Most of which were false allegations. Then came Nixon, champion Commie baiter and the illegal coup against Chille and the ovetthrow of Allende and the installation of the brutal military general, Pinochet.

    The hidden war of Somalia!

I am against all these wars and time Trump announced he was pulling troops out of Syria and Afghanistan both sides ran to vote against it. They know how many has to side with the other to override him and voted 70-26 in favor of keeping US forces in both countries.

Hysterical drivel doesn't get stuck at the top of a thread. One would think you would want this crazy $#@! gone as soon as possible, not stuck to memorialize insanity.

Wait just a damned minute here! When we kill outside a war zone it's not terrorism. It's "conflict" or a CIA "action" or an "exercise" or an "operation". when the Saudis do it it is "wrong , but not very" .
    See how it works now?

I don't know but I think that a real serious thread that deserves to be stickied probably doesn't start out with:

    goddamned republicrat
working their holes about some little-league terrorism
    the $#@!ing republicrat fools
    THE ALL-TIME WORLD CHAMPION TERRORISTS
