I never heard of the show before, but I just watched a few trailers on YouTube. It looks like a really great show. I am sorry that you can't get another dog. I totally know what you mean. Even my little bird is hard for me to take care of. But I have plenty of wild animals on my property that don't require much care just food.

So I am feeding this stray cat that ended up here. He is a true wild cat. He can climb trees like a bear. I found out that wild birds also love to eat cat food, and so do racoons. So now I am feeding them all. I also feed the racoon peanut butter sandwiches.

The other night I heard what sounded like a knock at my door. I live out in the woods, so I was pretty sure it wasn't a person. I looked out the window and there was the racoon standing up like a little bear looking at me for food. So I fed him a few pb sandwiches. I thought no way did he knock on the door. Probably some thud sounds from him on the porch.

But a few nights later at like 1 am I heard what sounded like a soft knock at the door. I actually heard the door move. So I looked out the window and there he was, him and the cat looking at me. I mean I don't know how he made the knocking sound, maybe he just pushed on the door. I have no clue. But it is what it is.

The racoons are really cute, they are gentle. They are kind of like a big cat. They are really adorable.
We are all brothers and sisters in humanity. We are all made from the same dust of stars. We cannot be separated because all life is interconnected.

How fun. You are like me about animals.

It wouldn't be a good idea to think that a raccoon is as gentle as a big house cat. They may look nice, but they are vicious. Don't try to pet one.

Plus, they can be very destructive and, they've been known to carry rabies.

Feed them for a while, then stop and see what they do.... they'll tear your house apart looking for food and, don't think they can't get in.

I had a package of dog treats in the console of my new truck. I left the back sliding window open. A raccoon climbed in and tore up some upholstery trying to get those dog treats. I've never had one get inside my house.

I used to to have a huge Alaskan Malamute. She liked to sleep outside on the deck. At night she'd roam the yard and kill opossum when they passed through. One night I heard her making a fuss, so I got up to see what was going on. She went after a raccoon and couldn't take care of that like she did the opossum. The next morning when I went outside, there were clumps of her fur all over the back yard. That thick fur was the only thing that saver her from getting shredded by that raccoon.

When I see them, I pop them with a pellet rifle to scare them off.

    Too true.

Leave a window open just a little, they'll get in, they'll go in through the pet door, they can open almost anything, with their little hands.

My daughter and her fiance, didn't encounter raccoons while camping near Cochise's stronghold, in Arizona, they had coatimundi, in the car, going after the donuts....lol..
