Pit bulls reportedly attack, kill owner

I know the people that love pitbulls get angry I post these, were just going to have to agree there are two different points of view when it comes to pitbulls. I love dogs and everyone here that knows me knows that. I do not love pitbulls as a "breed"

I could post a miminum of one of these stories a day

A Texas woman died on Saturday after she was “attacked by her two pit bull terriers,” police said.

Officers arrived at North O’Connor Road to help out the fire department, who was called to a veterinary facility about “reports of a woman in need of medical attention,” Irving Police said in a news release on Facebook.

The fatal encounter took place at the O’Connor Animal Hospital, Fox 4 News reported, citing police.

Employees at the facility said 33-year-old Johana Villafane seemed to have been hurt badly after getting attacked by the pair of dogs, authorities said.

The dogs continued to act aggressively even as staff and responders tried to jump in and help Villafane, according to police.

“Due to the dogs’ continued aggression, an officer discharged his duty weapon striking and killing both dogs,” police said.

Villafane was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but ultimately did not survive, police said.

“The initial investigation revealed the dogs had been quarantined at the vet clinic for observation due to a recent biting,” the news release said. “The owner had come to the clinic to feed the dogs and was outside in an exercise area when the attack occurred.”

I might disagree but I don't get angry. People have different opinions, and I acknowledge that pit bulls can bite but they are still, by and large, very loving dogs.

    I'm not afraid.

I'd rather rent a room to a Democrat then own a Pit Bull. They are like Muslims, not all are dangerous but some will kill you and its impossible to tell the difference until they attack.

That makes sense. As I child, I was bitten twice by dogs, one when I was three and running away (bit on the butt) and the other time when I was about eight and was riding my bicycle (bit on the ankle). I was scared back then but then I married a dog lover and our daughter turned into Dr. Doolittle, and I decided to show Saints in the show ring. I learned so very much in those years, including how to read a dog's body language and how to keep from getting bitten. Something just happened -- I became extremely fond of dogs. Cats, too, but especially dogs.

When you're afraid (as I was as a child), dogs sense it and they can become aggressive (not all, but some). When you run, you trigger their prey instinct. When you let a small child approach a dog that isn't familiar with children, you could have a problem. But, I'm 100% comfortable around dogs now - I even help my daughter who is in law enforcement and trains Schutzhund (training in bite work and protection), and I have no more fear. I help teach dog obedience at the local kennel club. It's great fun!

But, because I was once frightened -- I can empathize. I really can.

I was fortunate never to have been bitten by a dog as a child, so my adoration of dogs has been life long. I have always found their body language rather easy to read and my mother taught me how to approach a dog that I don't know. Cats, on the other hand, are rather inscrutable and moody. You can be petting them and they are happily purring away and then abruptly they can bite or scratch you. I have been bitten and clawed by cats a few times (not badly). I can read their body language when they are nervous or frightened or relaxed but beyond that, I find them a bit of a mystery.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

The "mystery" of the feline is one thing that attracts me to them. They challenge me, in a nice way.
