The NA poachers are likely white. Poachers in Africa are likely black. What is your point? There is black organized crime in Africa. Again, why wouldn't there be? This wasn't a discussion about race, it was about the preservation of endangered species and the desire of African nations to maintain these legacies for future generations and using the money generated by these game reserves as tourist destinations to help enrich the local people for generations to come i.e. planting the rice rather than eating the seeds.

South Africa is kinder to poachers that some other African nations - they are not allowed to simply shoot the poachers on sight. They have to arrest them. In other countries they are shot down like coyotes in a sheep herd. That makes them more of a target for poachers.
If it's not about race why did you go to great pains to deny the obvious? You were the one who claimed the rather obvious connection between organized crime and poverty was "not persuasive". What was that all about, Who?

    I think we both know.

It's not persuasive because many poor people don't commit crime. The law is the law. Being poor doesn't make for a get out of jail free card. Every case has specific circumstances that may mitigate the crime, but poverty in and of itself is not an excuse for killing an animal for a horn because there is a huge bounty for those horns. Killing an animal because you are starving and you need the meat to eat is far more liable to mitigate the judgment.

But some do. Not all or even most Africans are likely to poach animals but that doesn't change the demographics of poaching. What is your point here? Who are you arguing with?

Who started arguing with whom? You might want to answer that question yourself.

I simply commented on the accuracy one particular claim. What set you off?

Some folks have a conception of poachers that could come out of a Tarzan movie. That's just not the reality of poaching. That's all.

Set me off? LOL. I responded to your comments, but you were clearly presuming a context that didn't exist. South Africa is no longer controlled by whites, nor are most of its neighbors. There is no racial issue there with regard to black people. I don't assume that if there is organized crime that it is white organized crime.
