    Information Sources

Is what I am reading an honest attempt at accuracy? Can the source of the information be trusted? Is the source biased? Who pays for the source of the information? For what purpose is the information provided? If the source is politically biased can the information still be trusted? What about information paid for by corporate and/or wealthy supporters? Are counterpoints allowed on the site? What do investigative journalism and fact finding sites have to say about the source and its information?

As we enter another election season disinformation will cloud the mediasphere. One will read the [???] are behind whatever item the 'dark money' and 501c3 entities deem divisive enough to promote as news or agitprop. The purpose of these funded sites will be to distract, distort, and confuse. And like advertising it be tested and repeated ad infinitum. Below are examples of some of these sites and benefactors. Comments welcome from all.

    Dark money example:

"The Federalist Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Top dollar funding mostly comes from right wing groups such as the Bradley Group and the Koch Foundation. In general, most donors come from the pro-business right."

"Today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups... So I ask, in my writing, What is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind. I ought to know. I do the same thing." Philip K. Dick

Most if not all of the "fact-checkers" are extremely bias.

So you think facts are biased? That interesting, can you give an example of a biased fact?

Much of what fact checkers are going on about are not facts at all. We have covered this before. Why bring it back up?

The elastic nature of facts is a staple of the right.

Well then please link to that thread or site, if people, humans and Americans too, think facts are not facts then we need to start over. That or a good psychiatrist.

"Quite possibly, this belief in our own opinion, regardless of the facts, may be what separates us from the nations of the world, what makes us unique in God’s eyes. The average German or Czech, though possibly no less ignorant than his American counterpart, will probably consider the possibility that someone who has spent his life studying something may have an opinion worth considering. Not the American. Although perfectly willing to recognize expertise in basketball, for example, or refrigerator repair, when it comes to the realm of ideas, all folks (and their opinions) are suddenly equal. Thus evolution is a damned lie, global warming a liberal hoax, and Republicans care about people like you." Mark Slouka

    There you go again.

Much of what fact checkers are doing is treating opinion and policy positions as fact, and then calling it a lie.

I need an example or you are just admitting you are a biased reader and information is only information or fact if it agrees with your view of reality. Not a very open minded position but at the very least admit your closed mind. Or give an example.

Show us some facts that aren't facts. for instance, go through the OP and prove that those facts aren't facts.
