I used to buy white castle for 5cts each, then they went to 10 and 12 for a dollar, Addictive damn things they are.

In the late 60s a startup called BlueCastle started and they built stores quickly. The burgers were the same size but were little meatballs that they smashed flat on the grill and they tossed onions on top, they were good but they werent white castle. What kept blue castle going was their coffee in a glass jar, you gave a dime deposit and you got your coffee in a glass milk can shape, when you brought it back empty they gave you a clean full one. Coffee was EXCELLENT

You can buy white castle frozen in supermarkets but it just doesnt get it

I've never eaten them, but they look terrible to me. Like something mass produced.

Yeah, I've broken down twice in the past few years and bought frozen White Castles, and they made me sick both times. No mas. It's the real thing or nothing.

White Castles were 5 cents each back in the '60s; they're about 80 cents now. I was in high school in the late '60s, and we would go through bags and bags of the things. That's when they started offering cheeseburgers as an option, and later fish sandwiches, but I've always been an originalist when it comes to White Castles: just a burger on a steamed bun, onion and pickles.

Krystals in the mid-South are very close, and they have been around almost as long.

They are actually wonderful, and highly addictive. I can see how that photo I posted might give you the "assembly line" impression, though. This is probably a better one.

...though I disapprove of the cheese, of course.

I can't express how incredibly hungry for White Castles these pictures make me.

I've been eating real Mexican food for the past 25 years. I stopped noticing heartburn a long time ago.

All of this junk makes me feel physically ill now. At this point, I can only eat pizza without feeling like crap. I always liked the diced onion though. I make my own burgers that way.

The bottom picture looks less assembly line and the meat looks like meat.

Those onions look really good too. I tried White Castle once, about 15 years ago, and was unimpressed. I may have to revisit, lol.
