I'm kinda surprised that St. Louis got the Missouri nod. I would have expected Kansas City for their BBQ.

I used to live in Nashville--for 31 years, in fact--but I now reside in Murfreesboro; and I believe that The Slick Pig, in Murfreesboro, has better barbecue than any place in Nashville.
Of course, this is just an opinion--and, as such, it is entirely subjective--but so is the view listed in the OP.

Salt Lick in and around Austin is good but the best I ever had was at Black's in Lockhart, TX, with Smitty's a close second. In San Antonio, there's Two Bros. BBQ Market, The Granary, Augie's Barbed Wire Smokehouse, Texas Pride Barbecue, and more.
