5 Reasons U.S. Maritime Supremacy In The Western Pacific May Be Doomed

And interesting article. It identifies the fault line between the US and China in the Pacific and goes on to explain the strategical advantages seem to favor the Chinese. I don't think they are insurmountable, but definitely pose problems for the US to plan for. Below is a list of the 5 reasons. Read the article at the link for context.

    1. Geography is not on our side.
    2. China can target local U.S. military assets
    3. China’s nuclear weapons will deter decisive action.
    4. America’s nearby allies won’t make much difference.
    5. Washington has under-invested in needed capabilities.

The biggest issue I see is that our navy is designed to wage war. The Chinese enlist every fishing vessel out there for survillence. If we had full on war we would crush them. Small scale asymmetrical stuff is in their favor

I have been commenting on this for years on this board. The Chinese have been working to solve this complicated problem for more than three decades. They behave as if they believe they have solved it.

As often happens my perspective was mocked for several years. Then others come around. I am nearly always vindicated. Interestingly someone where I worked noted the same thing. I proposed a system that I won't discuss. The proposal was roundly criticized and I eventually dropped it. About four years later another engineer proposed exactly the same thing and was roundly applauded as a genius for having the insights to come up with the idea.

    I wish I was a better salesman.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
